ANARCHY is upon us...

Hello Everyone!
For some reason my time between blog posts keep getting farther & farther apart.  Sometimes I forget that I am now supposed to be a "blogger"   I also get it stuck in my head that I need to write a whole big blog post, instead of just a little one.  For this post though I plan on going big! :)
Norseman is a now a MOVIE STAR!!!

Hahaha, I'm just kidding...well sort of.  Norseman is in a wicked cool new web series called Anarchy The Series.

Anarchy is a No Budget original series from Ervin Studios in Spokane Washington.  Ervin Studios has produced successful television campaigns, short films, music videos and much more.  This production house has won multiple awards over the past 8 years!

Anarchy is an original series written by Dale Fruit.   Anarchy takes place 9 years after the fall of the American Government.  The  primary characters in Anarchy consider past Governments, past leaders, some of the great philosophical thinkers as they work to build a new society that maximizes liberty and minimizes tyranny.

Anarchy The Series made its debut September 2013.  There are as of right now 2 episodes available and episode 3 is in pre-production.  Here are some behind the scenes photos from the first 2 episodes.

NORSEMAN!!! ;)

Now that these photos of Anarchy has wetted your appetite...here are the episodes :)

Anarchy Episode I

Anarchy Episode II (mild graphic violence & an F-Bomb)

Keep in mind that this wicked ass series is a NO-budget production.  The cast and crew are all volunteers and love what they do.  You can follow Anarchy on Facebook, just click the link below and like their Facebook page to get updates & behind the scenes photos on upcoming episodes.

Don't forget to invite all your friends to their page and share their videos!!!

Maybe if we get Anarchy to go viral, they can get a budget and we can all be Chillaxing on the couch watching it on the big screen!

Culling the flock

Back in April, Norseman and I bought 24 one day old chicks.  They were all supposed to be females (pullets).  While waiting for them to grow up he and I built a chicken coop, and bought 6 laying hens and a rooster (Braw) off an old woman.  When our baby chicks got older we realized we had ended up with 5 roosters.  Last week thanks to Norseman, we are back down to 1 :)

Below is Noseman's YouTube Video "Culling the Flock"

We miss you Two Tails, but you sure were yummy!

Poor Braw, he knew his day had come.
R.I.P

Braw was a tough old bird. We cooked him up for dinner but the smell of his meat cooking was horrible.  We ended up feeding him to the dogs.  We learned a good lesson from him, and will rotate our flock much younger than we had planned on.

Remember Chance?
Our baby chick that Norseman saved from getting his head bit off from our little black devil dog.  He grew up to be a beautiful and friendly rooster.  He is now the "Cock of the walk" at Ydalir!

Somebody is sucking up to Norseman...I think she is worried that she might lose her head!

TA-DA!

I hope you enjoyed my chicken pictures, don't forget to check out Norseman's "culling the flock" video at the top, and his many other video's on YouTube.

I would just like to add, to any of you sensitive types, that our chickens were happy, healthy, free range chickens.  They were bought for the purpose of feeding our family, and died humanely serving that purpose.

Sharp pointy things

Hello again,  I'm back!  I have been posting mostly on fun stuff and the start up process for our homestead, but today I thought I would post about work.  Not my work, there is nothing exciting or glamorous about 4 little Heathens demanding all your time and energy.  As I type this Baby Girl is starving to death! (She hasn't eaten for a whole 2 hours)!!!  You must have figured it out by now, I am talking about Norseman's work :)  Since retiring from the Marine Corps he has put all of his time and energy into his knife shop.  Many, many times I sit out there with him and watch him "work"  and each time I am amazed at what he creates.  Sometimes even after he calls it quits for the night, and we are enjoying a beer after a hard day of work, he will get an idea or a new design will pop into his head and back to the grind he will go.  Occasionally I have to remind him to eat and even force him to take a day off.  He loves what he does and each blade that he makes reflect that.

This is how every knife starts out.

Multiple designs in various stages of completion.

This is usually where I find Norseman when I go looking for him.

After making many blades for others, I told him to make one for himself.  This is what he made, a Damascus Survivology...go big or go home!

Chillaxing :)

We spent the whole day celebrating Independence Day at this beautiful lake with great friends.  The kids went swimming, canoeing, rafting, and jet skiing.

Karen Hood and Egil.

Karen & Sasha.

After the lake, we camped out at Trace Rinaldi & his brother Cory's property.  We set off a bunch of fireworks for the kids (and adults).  Much to our happiness and Trace's regret he promised to make us all breakfast burritos in the morning.  Little did he know that he would be making them in just a handful of hours :)

While we were waiting for breakfast, Norseman, Karen and I went four wheeling with all the kids.  We went through this creepy tunnel that was probably a mile long.  My headlights didn't work and all the boys and I could see was Karen's tail lights in front of us and Norseman's headlights behind us, and... beautiful daylight so far out of reach.  About halfway through the tunnel I reminded the boys of the movie "I am Legend" they said that was NOT cool of me!  The 3 of us breathed a sigh of relief when we got through the tunnel...that was until we turned around and went back into it!

Chilling at Luke Swenson place.
He like the rest of us in North Idaho lives out in the middle of nowhere :)

The kids wanted to roast hotdogs at Luke's, but first they had to build a fire ring.

They also had to gather wood.
