This is a review of the complete contents of the Type 1 class 3 survival kit, also known as the Force Recon Survival Kit or the Marine Recon survival kit. This kit is selective issue to Ground Combat Elements in the Marine Corps in the early 90's. Primary it was issued to Recon and Sniper units but it is now widely available on the internet and in surplus stores. It was also adopted as the standard issue for instructors and students of certain courses at the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center. I cover the components of the kit and how to use some of them. I also cover some variations of the kit and recommended additions to the kit if you plan to make this your primary survival kit.
